Student Testimonials
Name: Steven. Age: 46. Occupation: Senior Quantity Surveyor. Previous Martial Arts / Yoga / Reiki experience? ”Very into Kyoukushinkai Karate in my twenties and have tried various styles after a long lay off. I meditate regularly. I have also recently started studying Yoga.”
Q: How long have you been studying Tai Chi? A: ”12 Months.”
Q: How did you get interested in Tai Chi? A: ”I had always enjoyed the grace in Tai Chi movement but considered the practice a bit ‘tame’ for me. Following a heart attack in Feb 07, I needed a regular exercise regime and something to combat stress/anxiety. Tai Chi allowed me to re-visit my interest in martial arts with a style that fitted with my state of health.”
Q: What is the most difficult part of training? A: ”Any martial art takes practise and consistent practise to learn – this I expected. What I didn’t expect was how physically demanding this ‘tame’ style could be. However, you do develop with the practise – a bit like swimming, its as hard as the effort you want to (or can) put into it.”
Q: What benefits have you gained from Tai Chi in relation to health or well being? A: ”I feel I am now beginning to learn how to relax my body. It has restored my confidence physically following my health problems. It has definitely improved my core strength and balance.”
Q: Have you any advice for beginners? A: Don’t worry if you can’t remember the movements or techniques. Keep practising and the instructors will correct you when required. It all clicks into place in time.
